About the Artist
Benjamin Gates, Founder & CEO of Asteroid Titanium Musical Productions & Entertainment, LLC, Washington, DC provides live musical performances, audio engineering, produces through creating, composing songs and arranging his own music, as well as other musicians’ music.
Mr. Gates began playing the acoustic cello as a young child and continued to train in different orchestral programs in elementary, middle, high school and college. He is classically trained. He plays most music genres which includes composing and creating the cello parts.
Mr. Gates has played at the Convention Center, the National Gallery of Art, the National Archives, the Arena Stage, the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), the Atlas Performing Arts and other prestigious organizations in Washington, DC. He has also played for various real estate developers such as Bozzuto, GreyStar and Vornado Development Companies, various venues at the National Harbor to include the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. Benjamin Gates has played for the Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC, and other medical facilities in the DMV. He has also played at events hosted by Financial Institutions at the NMAAHC. Mr. Gates has also performed at several galas, conferences and extraordinary events at Embassies, Hotels and other historical venues in the Washington, DC area, Richmond, Virginia, Baltimore, Maryland, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Manhattan, New York.
Mr. Gates with another organization has played at the White House for President Barrack Obama and the First Family. A few notable events include a Black Caucus Event with several African American Congress people; International Gala with the Queen of Sweden and other international dignitaries; a fundraiser for the new African American Museum with Oprah Winfrey and Congressman John Lewis in attendance; the Arena Stage where Omari Hardwick performed, and awards were presented to Cathy Hughes and Jesse Jackson; Mayor Bowser’s Emancipation Breakfast and the Emancipation Concert. He performed on the DC Channel, “The Sound” the Grammy Town Hall hosted by the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME); and other events hosted by the OCTFME. He was interviewed on Channel 32, PBS-WHUT “Art in Your Community” (ARTICO); acted as a Civil War Era Cellist on the TV show, Mercy Street on PBS; WUSA-Channel 9, “Great Day Washington”; Fox-Channel 5, “Beyond the Lens”; WJLA/ABC-Channels 7 and 8, “Inspire”; NBC-Channel 4, “Black History Month: Faith”; CNN and GHL Live. He played at the YMCA Awards Dinner, YMCA VIP Reception, Mayor Bowser’s Awards Program, Think Local VIP Reception, Reception for Society of Human Resource Management and also, fundraisers.
Mr. Gates participates and performs at many local communities, churches, charity events; and has played as community outreach for at several metro stations in the Washington area.
Mr. Gates started an annual drive (Covering from Head to Toe) to help keep people-in-need (homeless) warm during the winter in Washington, DC distributing the gift bags, and playing at Homeless Shelters.
